Are You Ready for Some Football?!
Well, sorry, you’ll have to wait till September. But if you are ready for an amazing trek through China and Inner Mongolia, then this is the place to be!!
This afternoon, the JE2008 group travels to Hartford, CT for an early flight tomorrow morning. Everyone is going over their personal checklists, packing the performance gear, reviewing last-minute details, saying goodbye to family and friends, and pretty much trying to get this show on the road! They have spent three months preparing for this trip. The time is finally now!
We are going to be spending a lot of time together over the next month, so let me introduce myself to you. My name is John Reinhardt (my wife, Lynn, and I are from Brookline) and our daughter, Kim, participated as a Freshman (L&G) in the program in 2002. I have been the tour guide for each of the five journeys east.
Okay, before we begin, let’s go over some things you’ll need to know. Feel free to check each day’s page several times a day. Some days we’ll have an early morning post and that’s all we’ll get. Other days will bring us a late post, or maybe even a second post during the day. There is no telling what we’ll get and how often. China is 12 hours ahead of us, the group will be very busy each day, so communication can come in at any time.
For some of you, this is the first time you’ve experienced being separated from your child for a month. For some, it is your first time on the Journey East web site. For others, you’ve been through this before, either as a parent or an interested passenger. For you parents, it is our hope that this site will provide a connection to your child and will make the separation easier to handle.
Be assured, that throughout the coming month, we’ll be right here for you, bringing you every morsel of information concerning ”our” kids in China.
The buttons to the left will show the day before, the current day, and the day after. To look at any given day if the journey, go back to the “Home” page
”Where are they” will show a map of China and an arrow showing your their progress throughout the trip. We’ll add other navigation buttons as we roll along.
If, during the journey, you have any questions, comments, or wish to share any correspondence (e-mails or phone calls) you have with your child, feel free to them to me at john@bookdesign.com. And let me know if you wish to allow this information to shared with others.
For the next thirty-one days, we are in this together -- one big JE family!
We’ll do our best to keep you entertained, amused, and informed as we enjoy our kids and their amazing adventure affectionately known as “Journey East 2008!”
Okay, this is the captain speaking . . . seats in the upright position, please . . .
